AceShowbiz - Metallica has pledged to support the communities struck by Hurricane Helene, the third-deadliest storm in the U.S. since 2000. Through their All Within My Hands Foundation, the band announced a generous contribution of $100,000, split equally between World Central Kitchen and Team Rubicon. World Central Kitchen is providing hot meals and potable water, while Team Rubicon is focused on clearing debris and aiding rescue efforts.
"Over the past week, Hurricane Helene has left a 500-mile path of destruction throughout Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee in its wake," the band wrote on X. The storm has already taken over 215 lives, with many more people unaccounted for, leading experts to predict the death toll may rise as recovery continues.
World Central Kitchen's relief efforts have included collaborating with local food trucks and restaurants to provide tens of thousands of hot meals in the worst-hit areas. In Asheville, North Carolina, where devastating floods have left over 100 residents dead and disrupted water services, the organization has deployed water tanks capable of delivering 100,000 gallons of potable water daily.
Meanwhile, Team Rubicon volunteers, known as Greyshirts, have been working tirelessly across multiple states to clear debris and make roads passable for emergency services. Their efforts have seen more than 400 dump trucks' worth of debris removed so far.
