AceShowbiz - At 84, Al Pacino has faced a life-altering experience that has given him a profound perspective on mortality. In a recent interview with The New York Times, he revealed that he suffered a near-death experience while battling COVID-19 in 2020.
"I was sitting there in my house and I was gone," Pacino recalled. "I didn't have a pulse." Within minutes, paramedics arrived and performed CPR, bringing him back to life.
He remembered suffering from a fever and dehydration before suddenly fainting. "I didn't see the white light or anything," he claimed. "There's nothing there."
Despite the terrifying ordeal, Pacino finds solace in his children and the legacy of his extensive body of work. He admitted to not being afraid of death, saying, "It's just the way it is."
However, Pacino acknowledged that the topic of death was not always so innocuous for him. "I'd never thought about it in my life," he said. "But you know actors: It sounds good to say I died once."
Reflecting on his decades-long career, Pacino expressed mixed feelings. "Usually when I make films, I'm not very happy," he confessed. However, he found some joy in his trailer, where he could indulge in YouTube and even TikTok.
Despite his initial reluctance, Pacino revealed that one of the films he would recommend to his infant son, Roman, is "Jack and Jill" with Adam Sandler. "It came at a time in my life that I needed it," he said, referring to a period of financial hardship.
Pacino's former financial advisor's embezzlement had left him with a hefty IRS debt. Yet, the actor remained philosophical, saying, "I didn't ask for it. Just comes, like a lot of things just come."
Through his near-death experience and his reflections on life and career, Al Pacino has gained a newfound appreciation for the fragility of life and the enduring power of legacy.
