AceShowbiz - Kamie Crawford, the charismatic co-host of MTV's "Catfish: The TV Show", has decided to move on from her role after nearly six years of helping people uncover the truth about their online relationships. Crawford announced her exit on social media, causing a wave of nostalgia and gratitude among fans and colleagues.
"After six years of living my absolute dream working on Catfish - one of the most iconic shows in television history, it is with a heavy heart and much consideration that I have decided to move on to my next adventure," Crawford shared in her statement.
Her emotional farewell reverberated with fans who have followed her journey since she stepped in as a guest host in 2018, eventually becoming a permanent fixture in 2020 after Max Joseph's departure.
Crawford's journey on "Catfish" began in a serendipitous manner. "When I got an email in 2018 from an absolute stranger at Catfish's production department asking if I wanted to guest co-host two episodes of one of my favorite shows of all time, I never would've imagined the life, love, memories, and worldwide support that it would've awarded me," she reminisced.
Throughout her tenure on the show, Crawford, alongside Nev Schulman, has traveled across the country, meeting and assisting individuals in their quest to verify the authenticity of their online romances.
"I am so grateful for every single moment spent traveling the country, meeting so many of you and helping people find love - whether that be from a partner or finding new ways to love themselves a little more," Crawford expressed.
She added a touching note on the daily support she received from fans, "The outpouring of love that I receive on a daily basis from Catfish fans around the world lets me know that I have done what I've always intended on doing, which is to leave every room a little bit brighter, warmer and safer than when I entered."
As she prepares for her next adventure, Crawford remains grateful for the opportunity that allowed her to achieve a dream she had since she was 19. "I am proud of the work we've done and the impact l've left," she said. "I am forever grateful to Nev, Critical Content and MTV for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and shot at a dream I've been working towards since I was 19 years old"”
Fans and colleagues alike have shown their appreciation and support. MTV's official Instagram account commented on Crawford's farewell post, saying, "Always part of the family." The official "Catfish" Instagram account echoed this sentiment with, "Thank you for everything."
Kamie Crawford's departure marks the end of a significant era for "Catfish", yet it also signals the beginning of new possibilities for her. As she expressed, "I have so many new dreams now and although I'm writing this with tears in my eyes (y'all know I'm a water sign at the end of the day), I am excited for what's to come and I'm even more honored that I get to take you all with me."
