AceShowbiz - Yerin Ha, the Australian-born actress, shared the heartwarming moment she found out she had secured the role of Sophie in "Bridgerton" season 4. During a recent YouTube interview with co-star Luke Thompson, Ha revealed that she received the news while having breakfast with her mother in Seoul, South Korea.
Upon stepping outside, Ha excitedly jumped up and down, prompting her mother to realize the significance of the moment. Overwhelmed with joy, Ha's mother came out crying and exclaimed, "We gotta go home. I think I have indigestion."
Ha expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she received from her loved ones. She noted that her friend's reaction via FaceTime was priceless, with her friend expressing disbelief and excitement.
Previously announced in August, Ha's role as Sophie Baek reflects a name change from the original character in Julia Quinn's novel "An Offer From a Gentleman". The change aims to acknowledge Ha's Korean heritage and follows a similar adjustment made for Kate Sheffield's surname in season 2.
In "Bridgerton" season 4, Sophie's slow-burning romance with Benedict Bridgerton takes center stage. A captivating Lady in Silver at a masquerade ball, Sophie's true identity as the daughter of an earl remains hidden. Despite being raised in his household, she faces hardships under the influence of her stepmother and stepsisters.
Ha's casting brings her extensive experience to the role, including her performance as Kwan Ha in "Halo's" live-action adaptation. She is also set to appear in the upcoming "Dune: Prophecy" prequel series on Netflix.
