AceShowbiz - Kim Richards, the 60-year-old alum of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," has reportedly relapsed after years of sobriety. According to TMZ, Richards was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold earlier this month after acting "incoherent" at a Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. Police were called, and when Richards allegedly refused to leave the hotel, she was placed on a 5150 hold and taken away via ambulance.
Following her release, Richards was permitted to stay at a Los Angeles home owned by her younger sister, Kyle Richards. However, on Wednesday, September 25, a dispute reportedly arose between the siblings at Kyle's home. Police were again called to the scene, and authorities were informed that Kim was not allowed on the property due to her substance abuse issues.
Richards' relapse and subsequent removal from Kyle's home highlight the ongoing struggles faced by her family.
Kyle had previously outed Kim as an "alcoholic" in the first season of "RHOBH." However, Kim appeared to have made progress in her recovery with the help of Bravo, which reportedly paid for her rehab stay. Andy Cohen, the host of "Watch What Happens Live" and producer of the "Housewives" franchise, revealed that the network had stepped in to support Richards' sobriety.
Despite her efforts, Richards' relapse has strained her relationship with her family. Her siblings have cut her off in hopes of pushing her toward recovery. Kyle has credited Bravo with saving Kim's life, as the show's accountability and publicity have made it difficult for her to hide her addiction.
Kim Richards has made guest appearances on "RHOBH" in recent seasons, but her last full-time role was in 5. It remains unclear when she allegedly fell off the wagon, but her struggles have been a recurring theme throughout her time on the show.
