Confusion ensues as a representative for Janet Jackson steps forward to clarify that the man who issued an apology on behalf of the singer is not her manager despite claim otherwise.

AceShowbiz - The entertainment world was thrown into a whirl of confusion on Sunday, September 22 following an unusual turn of events involving an apology made on behalf of Janet Jackson. The apology, however, was issued by a man who inaccurately claimed to be her manager, leading to more questions than answers.
In a statement addressed to Variety, Mo Elmasri, who presented himself as Janet Jackson's manager, issued an "apology" for comments the singer made about Kamala Harris' racial background.
The statement read, "Janet Jackson would like to clarify her recent comments. She recognizes that her statements regarding Vice President Kamala Harris' racial identity were based on misinformation."
"Janet respects Harris' dual heritage as both Black and Indian and apologizes for any confusion caused. She values the diversity Harris represents and understands the importance of celebrating that in today's society. Janet remains committed to promoting unity and understanding."
However, representatives for Janet Jackson told Variety that the singer has been managed by her brother Randy Jackson for many years. The Jackson family is currently mourning the loss of their older brother Tito, who passed away at the age of 70, and are unavailable for comment.
Elmasri, whose bio on the Internet Movie Database claims he is an Egyptian filmmaker and founder of a consulting firm called 24 East Agency, has been credited as an executive producer on the upcoming movie "Janet Jackson: Family First." However, his other roles listed are uncredited trainee assistant director and creative director positions.
The controversy stems from an interview Janet Jackson gave to The Guardian, where she commented on Kamala Harris' racial identity. Jackson expressed confusion about Harris' background, even after being presented with accurate information.
"Well, you know what they supposedly said?" Jackson told the news outlet. "She's not Black. That's what I heard. That she's Indian." When informed that Harris is both Black and Indian, Jackson pushed back, asserting that the presidential nominee's father is neither. "Her father's white. That's what I was told. I mean, I haven't watched the news in a few days," she said. "I was told that they discovered her father was white."
These comments echoed a narrative pushed by former president Donald Trump, who, during an interview at the National Association of Black Journalists convention, suggested that Harris "turned Black" for political gain. "She was only promoting Indian heritage," Trump said. "I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black…Is she Indian or is she Black?"
Vice President Kamala Harris' father has been verified to be a Jamaican immigrant who came to the U.S. to pursue a PhD in economics, while her mother, who passed away in 2009, was an Indian immigrant. This misinformation has only added to the chaotic climate surrounding the upcoming election.
As the situation develops, many await further clarification from Janet Jackson's legitimate representatives and how this misunderstanding was able to occur in the first place.
