AceShowbiz - Elle King remains firm in her statements about her estranged father, Rob Schneider, despite his public apology. In a recent interview, King clarified that she had no malicious intent when she spoke about her childhood and her father's absence. "I was just speaking about my truth," she said. "I was not trying to hurt him."
King's comments sparked public backlash after she criticized Schneider's anti-LGBTQ+ stance and revealed instances of childhood trauma. She stated that she disagreed with his views and that she was sent to "fat camp" as a child.
In response, Schneider apologized on Tucker Carlson's podcast, expressing love and remorse for his past shortcomings. However, King dismissed the apology as insincere, saying, "An apology on Tucker Carlson is like a double negative, right? Means nothing."
King emphasized that her decision to publicly address her relationship with her father was not intended to attack him but to start a conversation about allyship and to make clear her support for the LGBTQ+ community. "The best thing that came from that is that my incredible LGBTQ+ community knows that they have an ally in me," she said.
Despite the controversy, King maintains that she does not want to be associated with her father's reputation. "He didn't have a very good reputation," she explained. "I don't want to be associated with him."
King acknowledges the complexities of family relationships and emphasizes the importance of prioritizing one's own well-being. "You can want someone to change so much," she said. "But all you can control is how you react and what you do with your feelings."
