AceShowbiz - On September 17, 2024, Deon Cole's comedy set at the Hollywood Improv took an unexpected turn when Paul McCartney graced the stage. Cole, who had previously mentioned smoking with a friend before the show, clarified that the friend was none other than the "Say, Say, Say" singer.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for my friend, Paul McCartney," announced Cole. McCartney, known for his contributions to The Beatles and Wings, joined Cole onstage and quipped, "I've just been enjoying seeing you working through this material, and you’re right, some of it bombed."
Cole, while acknowledging that some of his jokes had fallen flat, found solace in McCartney's admission that even the Beatles had faced their own performance challenges in their early days. "In the beginning, when we started out, guys used to throw pennies at us," recalled McCartney.
Despite Cole's amusement, he couldn't help but express his humorous frustration at the audience's lack of enthusiasm. "I had to smoke, and that's why this is happening, and y'all motherf**kers did not give no love to me at all tonight," joked Cole.
After praising Cole's performance, McCartney departed the stage, leaving the comedian with a parting shot. "And I didn't turn you on to smoking," said McCartney. "Yes you did, motherf**ker," responded Cole, referencing McCartney's famous collaboration on a song about drug use with his friends.
Cole shared footage of the impromptu appearance on social media, captioning it, "My friend Paul came to watch me work on new material last night. We had a blast." The comedian's Netflix special, "Deon Cole: Ok, Mister", was released on the same day and has since become a top 3 streaming show on the platform in the United States.
