AceShowbiz - Justin Timberlake made a talk show appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Monday night, marking his first interview since pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated (DWI). However, his appearance drew backlash on social media due to his lack of acknowledgment of the incident.
During the interview, Timberlake and Fallon engaged in light-hearted banter, discussing Timberlake's Forget Tomorrow World Tour and Fallon's upcoming Brooklyn show. The conversation notably avoided mentioning Timberlake's recent legal troubles.
Social media users swiftly reacted to the interview, accusing Timberlake of having "no shame." One critic tweeted, "Justin Timberlake being on Jimmy Fallon with no shame and getting off with basically a parking ticket is privilege at it's finest!!"
Fans also took to the comments section of the show's Instagram clip to express their disapproval. Jokes about Timberlake's DWI arrest and concerns about his driving habits were prevalent. One user remarked, "Make sure he doesn't drive himself."
Timberlake also faced criticism on Twitter, where users condemned his public apology for the incident as insufficient. One comment read, "Sad he had a chance to address it but refused to remind a national audience to not drink & drive but did not."
Timberlake was arrested on June 18 for allegedly running a stop sign, swerving out of his lane, and smelling of alcohol. He initially pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor DWI charge but later agreed to a plea deal that reduced the charge to a non-criminal traffic violation. As part of the deal, he was fined $500, ordered to complete 25 hours of community service, and had his license suspended for 90 days.
In a public apology outside the courthouse after the plea deal, Timberlake expressed remorse for his actions and urged others to learn from his mistake. However, he did not mention the incident during his appearance on "The Tonight Show".
Despite the backlash, Timberlake's tour continues as scheduled. He recently announced the addition of nine more shows for the fall leg of the tour, which begins in October in Montreal.
