The former 'Suddenly Susan' actress talks about using a private plane to travel from one city to another for her comedy tour, insisting 'it's worth it' despite the high cost.

AceShowbiz - Kathy Griffin, the 63-year-old comedian, is unapologetically back on the comedy scene, traveling for her latest tour, "My Life on the PTSD-List." While many might envy her use of a private jet, Griffin wittily admits, "I joke that I'm losing money on this tour because of the jet. I know it's spoiled, but it's worth it."
Griffin's reasons for splurging on private air travel are as practical as they are personal. She mentioned in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that it allows her to sleep with her "babies," presumably her four rescue dogs, and avoid confrontations with Donald Trump supporters at airports. These interactions, she explained, often involve people approaching her to express their distaste, a reality she prefers to dodge.
The comedian's contentious relationship with Donald Trump, dating back to 2017, cast a long shadow over her career. Griffin was temporarily placed on the no-fly list and faced a federal investigation after posting a provocative image of herself holding a mask reminiscent of a severed, bloody head resembling Trump.
Despite initially apologizing, she later retracted her apology, claiming, "The whole outrage was BS; the whole thing got so blown out of proportion... in light of all the crazy stuff that [Trump] and this administration are doing … he's unhinged."
The repercussions of this incident were severe. Griffin revealed that she had to spend over $1 million on legal fees and struggled with unemployment. Her personal turmoil during this period led to an addiction to prescription drugs like OxyContin and benzodiazepines, and even a suicide attempt.
The adversity didn't end there. In 2021, she received a lung cancer diagnosis, necessitating the removal of one of her lungs. Remarkably resilient, Griffin declared herself cancer-free within four months of the surgery. However, the struggle continued with her needing a second vocal cord surgery earlier this year to restore her voice.
Despite these bleak chapters, Griffin's story is one of perseverance. She has emerged from these trials with renewed vigor and is back on the road for her first stand-up tour since 2018. Her journey, laden with high stakes and higher resilience, continues to inspire and entertain.
