AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie, 49, wrote and directed the drama "Without Blood", which stars Salma Hayek Pinault and Demian Bichir and premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Behind the scenes, Maddox, 23, and Pax, 20, assisted with directing duties, liaising with other departments.
Hayek Pinault praised the brothers' dedication, saying, "They work hard, they got the respect of the crew, and they were very in their place." Despite their familiarity with Jolie, they maintained a professional demeanor.
At the beginning of filming, Hayek Pinault had to adjust to treating Maddox and Pax as colleagues. "I had to separate and just treat them like professionals because it's disrespectful," she explained.
Jolie also noted, "They've done that quite a few times, and I think that's good for them." Maddox and Pax also worked as assistant directors on Jolie's upcoming film "Maria", directed by Pablo Larrain.
Jolie expressed pride in her sons' growing independence. "They're a bit older, getting more independent. I'm less needed," she told THR. "And they're old enough to join me at work. It's a new season in our lives."
Jolie balances her filmmaking with being a mother to six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). Her youngest daughter, Vivienne, has also worked with her mother on a Broadway production.
