AceShowbiz - Chris Evans, a prominent broadcaster during the peak of Britpop in the 1990s, has revealed that he has no memory of attending Oasis' career-defining concert at Knebworth in 1996, despite being there.
Speaking on his "Virgin Radio Breakfast Show", Evans confessed, "Honestly, this is a pinky promise... I genuinely can't remember being there. And I'm not larging it."
Despite his lapse of memory, Evans acknowledged the existence of photographic evidence proving his presence at the event. "There's loads of photographs of us there, but I can't remember it," he said.
Evans, who interviewed the Gallagher brothers numerous times over the years, was not even aware of the band's reunion until receiving a text message from ITV's This Morning requesting his perspective on the 1990s musical landscape.
"The first I heard about it was via a text, and the text simply said, 'This Morning wants to know if you're available to come on for a chat tomorrow re: the Oasis reunion,' and I just texted back 'What?' because I didn't know," Evans explained.
Despite his memory lapse, Evans expressed admiration for Oasis's enduring appeal. "They were the perfect blend of fantastic, anthemic, profound, famous, and infamous," he said, praising their unique and captivating presence compared to Blur.
The news of Oasis's reunion has sparked considerable excitement, with Evans predicting an eventful year ahead for British music. "So excited for them, for you, for us, for the business, for Great Britain. Tick, tick, tick, tick. All the ticks," he exclaimed.
