Disney and Radford Studio Center have been fined $36,000 and Radford Studio Center $45,000 in the death of a crew member on the Marvel series 'Wonder Man'.

AceShowbiz - On February 6, 41-year-old lighting technician J.C. "Spike" Osorio fell from a deteriorated catwalk at Stage 3 of the Radford Studio Center in Studio City. According to Cal/OSHA's investigation, the catwalk was weakened due to age, environmental conditions, and stress loads over decades. Osorio fell 41 feet and died from blunt force trauma.
Cal/OSHA issued two $18,000 penalties to Disney and two $22,5000 citations to Radford Studio Center. The companies have 15 days to appeal the fines.
Osorio's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Radford Studio Center, alleging that the facility was negligent in maintaining the catwalks. His widow, Joanne Osorio-Wu, and mother, Zoila Osorio, are seeking damages for loss of love, medical fees, and funeral expenses.
"The OSHA investigation corroborates that Radford Studio Center failed to properly maintain, repair and inspect its premises," said Erika Contreras, the family's attorney. "The citations issued against Radford Studio Center reflect that Mr. Osorio's death was a preventable tragedy."
Radford's lawyers have disputed the family's claims, suggesting that the accident may have been caused by Osorio's or others' negligence.
The incident has underscored the importance of workplace safety in the entertainment industry. IATSE Local 728, the lighting technicians guild, has emphasized its commitment to member safety and ensuring safe work environments.
