AceShowbiz - Rapper Juvenile, known for his late '90s and early 2000s hits like "Back That Azz Up," recently became the center of an in-flight controversy. During a flight from New Orleans to Dallas, the rapper, whose real name is Terius Gray, faced an unexpected downgrade from first class to coach, sparking a heated exchange with American Airlines flight attendants.
"Y'all hear this?" Juvenile, 49, exclaimed to his Instagram Live followers as the dispute unfolded. The rapper voiced his frustration and disbelief, saying, "Man, they trying to kick me off the plane. They trying to take me off of first class."
The downgrade was prompted by a change in aircraft, which had fewer first class seats than originally planned, according to American Airlines. In the livestream, Juvenile's wife, Shadonna Jones, questioned the decision, stating, "I'm his wife, so how can you downgrade him and I could still stay?"
Visibly upset, Juvenile declared, "You ain't going to put me in no coach. This ain't never happened to me in my life." He further warned the American Airlines staff that they would regret the decision due to his celebrity status.
"I'm a celebrity. There's going to be repercussions for this because Imma get off the plane. I'm not going to let y'all disrespect me like that," he asserted. Choosing to deplane with his wife rather than accept the downgrade, Juvenile added, "Out of all the people on the plane y'all done picked a celebrity."
Subsequent to the incident, Juvenile posted another clip on Instagram, expressing his continuous frustration, "F**k American Airlines. All the money I spent with you b***hes. They gone try to put me in coach, mother**ker? I ain't never flew coach. I feel played." He also emphasized his loyalty to the airline and shared a photo showing how often he travels first class with them.
In response, an American Airlines representative acknowledged the unplanned aircraft change and apologized for the inconvenience. The spokesperson said, "American Airlines strives to provide a positive experience to every traveler, and we apologize for Mr. Gray's recent experience with us."
However, Juvenile's rep told Page Six, "No one at American has talked to Juvenile personally."
Despite the disruption, Juvenile ensured his fans that he made it to Texas for his scheduled performance by boarding a different airline. "Don't worry Fort Worth I'm boarding another plane right now on a better airline THE SHOW MUST GO ON," he wrote.
