AceShowbiz - Ryan Reynolds has expressed his desire to see more Wesley Snipes as Blade on the big screen following the actor's long-awaited return to the character in "Deadpool & Wolverine".
Snipes first played Blade in the 1998 film of the same name and reprised the role in two sequels. His appearance in "Deadpool & Wolverine" delighted fans and led Reynolds to call for a "Logan-like send off" for Snipes' character.
Reynolds took to Instagram to share photos of himself with Snipes on the film's set, writing, "The reaction when @realwesleysnipes enters the movie is the most intense thing l've heard in a theater. People screaming with uninhibited joy and love is also the sound of a legacy. More Blade, please."
Snipes' "Blade" was one of several Fox-era Marvel heroes to make a comeback in "Deadpool & Wolverine". Jennifer Garner's Elektra and Chris Evans' Johnny Storm also appeared, much to the delight of fans.
Snipes told Entertainment Weekly that he was surprised by his return to the role after 20 years, "I didn't think we would be able to pull it off. I didn't think that Marvel was into it, Disney was into it - also because they had Mahershala [Ali] cast for the next upcoming version of it...I thought it didn't make sense to me, but when you get a call from Ryan Reynolds out of the blue after 20 years, you go, 'OK, I got to take this call. Let's see what this is about.' "
Despite Marvel Studios' plans for a reboot with Ali, Reynolds' support for Snipes has sparked speculation that the studio may reconsider its approach. "Deadpool & Wolverine" has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie in history, demonstrating the enduring popularity of Snipes' Blade character.
