AceShowbiz - Bad Robot Productions, led by J.J. Abrams, is poised to extend its successful partnership with Warner Bros. Television beyond its current five-year pact. The company is in advanced negotiations for a multi-year renewal that will see Bad Robot continue to produce TV and film content for the studio.
The deal comes after a turbulent period following the 2022 WarnerMedia-Discovery merger, which resulted in several Bad Robot projects being canceled. However, the company has since rebounded with successful releases such as "Presumed Innocent" and "Caped Crusader."
The new agreement is expected to be less lucrative than the current $250 million pact signed in 2019. However, Bad Robot's slate of upcoming projects remains robust, including the drama series "Duster" for Max and a "Speed Racer" series for Apple TV+.
On the film side, Bad Robot has a slew of projects in development, including "Flowervale Street" for Warner Bros., scheduled for release in 2025.
In addition to its Warner Bros. partnership, Bad Robot has signed on to produce a live-action adaptation of "Hot Wheels" for Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will feature the iconic toy cars, monster trucks, and motorcycles that have captivated generations of enthusiasts.
"Hot Wheels" is one of the first major film titles under Bad Robot's production deal with Warner Bros., which also includes "The Pinkerton," "Zatanna," the untitled Superman movie, and "Oh The Places You'll Go!"
