AceShowbiz - Netflix has pulled the plug on its popular real estate series "Buying Beverly Hills". The decision comes just two months after Season 2 premiered, with a third installment now scrapped.
According to industry insiders, the cancellation resulted from a review of viewing numbers compared to production expenses.
The unscripted series, which starred Mauricio Umansky, estranged husband of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kyle Richards, followed him and his staff at The Agency, including his daughters Farrah Brittany and Alexia Umansky. Season 2 introduced a new addition to the family business: his third daughter, Sophia.
In addition to showcasing luxury real estate, the series also provided insight into the family troubles of the real estate agent, including his estrangement from Kyle Richards and his rocky relationship with brother-in-law Rick Hilton.
Season 2 gave viewers an unfiltered look at the family feud, with Mauricio expressing his belief that he had been unfairly treated by Hilton & Hyland, the real estate firm co-founded by Rick Hilton.
Rick Hilton's daughter, Paris Hilton, defended her father, calling him a "consummate gentleman" who "has always taken the higher road." She accused Mauricio of exploiting the Hilton name for publicity.
The decision to cancel "Buying Beverly Hills" caps off a total of 18 episodes across two seasons. The cancellation comes as a disappointment to fans who enjoyed following the Umanskys and the high-stakes world of Los Angeles real estate.
