AceShowbiz - Tana Mongeau has strongly denounced the recently resurfaced racist tweets of her "Cancelled" podcast co-host, Brooke Schofield. In the latest episode of their podcast, Mongeau described the tweets, which date back to 2012-2016, as "horrific" and "f**ked up." She emphasized that as a white person, she has "no right to forgive" Schofield for her hurtful and offensive language.
Schofield was notably absent from the episode, as Mongeau stated that it was her decision not to include her. Speaking to her own past racist tweets from 2013-2014, Mongeau expressed remorse and acknowledged the need for continual growth and unlearning.
Despite initially supporting Schofield's apology, Mongeau regretted her response due to its insensitivity. She emphasized that it was insufficient to dismiss past actions as simply a product of poor upbringing.
Schofield has since posted an apology video on TikTok, acknowledging the disturbing and disgusting nature of her tweets. She attributed her views at the time to the heavily conservative environment in which she grew up.
In a follow-up video, Schofield confirmed her donation to the Trayvon Martin Foundation and her ongoing research to support other communities and foundations.
Mongeau expressed hope that Schofield would take the time to educate herself and work towards understanding the pain caused by her words. She noted that she is taking into consideration the concerns and feedback from listeners as she envisions the future of the podcast.
While Mongeau did not explicitly address Schofield's potential role going forward, she stated that she knows "where [she] wants the future of this podcast to go." She encouraged Schofield to continue her own journey of growth and reconciliation.
