AceShowbiz - Dr. Dre, known for his impressive music career, has a surprising goal in mind: to compete in archery at the 2028 Olympic Games in his hometown of Los Angeles. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 59-year-old rapper revealed his ambitions, much to the surprise of the reporter.
"I'm trying to try out for the Olympics in 2028," Dre said. "Archery. I'm dead-a** serious."
Dre explained that his archery skills date back to junior high, where he participated on his school's archery team. He later took a break from the sport but recently picked it up again when his son gifted him an archery setup.
"I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90," he said.
With the Los Angeles Games being held in his hometown, Dre can't help but dream big. "Wouldn't that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in L.A., and win the gold medal?" he said. "I feel like I could do anything."
Dre's Olympic aspirations come following the 2024 Paris Games, where breakdancing made its debut as a medal sport. However, Dre expressed his disapproval of some of the competitive breakdancing performances, specifically that of Australian breaker Raygun.
"I did not like that. It's so many great breakdancers, I don't know why they had this particular person doing that," he said. "It was funny, I got some laughs out of it, but what the f***? There are incredible breakdancers out right now - I don't know how that happened."
While it remains to be seen if Dre will qualify for the 2028 Olympics, his determination to represent the USA in archery is a testament to his unwavering spirit and belief in his abilities. The Los Angeles Games promise to be a star-studded affair, and with Dr. Dre now in the mix, they are sure to be even more unforgettable.
