AceShowbiz - In her emotional TED Talk titled "The Alchemy Of Pop," Kesha (Ke$ha) reflected on her journey through the legal turmoil and how it influenced her music. Speaking about songs like her 2009 hit "Tik Tok" and 2017's "Praying", Kesha described her emotional struggle and the therapeutic role that songwriting played during these difficult years.
"I found myself in a very ugly litigation with the same person who I had signed the rights to my recorded voice to," she said. "It was very public. It was very painful. I was very angry. So I did what I do with all my emotions, and I wrote my way through it."
In a statement released on Thursday, July 11, Kesha expressed ambiguity regarding the alleged assault, stating, "Only God knows what happened that night. As I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened." She added, "I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one."
Dr. Luke, in his own statement, denied any wrongdoing, saying, "While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened." He continued, "I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone. For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years. It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life."
The settlement comes less than a month before a defamation suit brought by Dr. Luke was set to go to trial. The initial lawsuit, filed by Kesha in 2014, alleged that Dr. Luke had drugged and raped her nine years earlier and psychologically tormented her. Dr. Luke denied the allegations and counter sued for defamation and breach of contract.
