AceShowbiz - The highly successful "The Conjuring" horror franchise, known for its spine-tingling scares and focus on paranormal investigations, is set to conclude with a fourth and final film releasing on September 5, 2025. Directed by Michael Chavez, the movie, reportedly titled "The Conjuring: Last Rites", will be the culmination of the original 2013 film, "The Conjuring 2" (2016) and "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" (2021).
The franchise, which has grossed over $2 billion worldwide, has been a beloved staple of the horror genre, thanks in part to its unwavering commitment to classic horror techniques and its impeccable performances from Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The original "Conjuring" film, directed by James Wan, was a massive success, grossing almost $320 million worldwide against its $20 million budget. The film follows the Warrens as they assist the Perron family, who are terrorized by a malevolent presence in their Rhode Island farmhouse.
The franchise's success led to multiple prequel, sequel and spin-off films, including "The Nun", "Annabelle" and "The Curse of La Llorona". Notably, the 2018 prequel "The Nun" is the highest-grossing film in the franchise, having earned $366 million worldwide.
The announcement of the fourth and final "Conjuring" film comes amidst the release of other notable films, including Maggie Gyllenhaal's "The Bride!", which has had its release date moved from October 3 to September 26, 2025.
