The bold move originated from a conversation with someone unexpected: her grandma. Reflecting on the inception of this idea during her podcast, the young performer shared how the suggestion came about during a rehearsal for her song "Yesterday's Tomorrow's Today".

Prompted by her recent 21st birthday, Siwa had the whimsical idea to take a shot, and her grandma was all for it. "I was like, 'I wanna f**king take a shot before this.' And my grandma was like, 'All right, JoJo. You should do it.' And I was like, all right. Let's do it!" recounted the singer.

This ritual quickly became a crowd favorite, especially notable during her set at Los Angeles Pride at the Park, where she brought out a jug of Tito's vodka. "I brought out a jug of Tito's, and people were like, 'Woah. What are you doing? Is it real? Is it fake?' " she said of the onstage moment. "And I was like, 'B***h, it is what it f**king is. It's a bottle of Tito's.' "

The reaction from the audience was electric, making the drinking bit a staple of her Pride performances across major cities like L.A., London, New York, Miami as well as Chicago.
