AceShowbiz - Amber Rose apparently still hasn't gained total trust from Republicans after voicing her support for Donald Trump. The model has drawn mixed responses after it's revealed that she will be speaking at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next week.
CNN's Kristen Holmes first broke the news on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday, July 8. "RNC news: Amber Rose, a reality tv personality and model who shocked fans by endorsing Donald Trump for president earlier this year, is expected to speak at the Republican National Convention next week, a source familiar tells CNN," the tweet read.
Following the news, Rose confirmed her involvement in the upcoming event. "It's True! I'm speaking at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee #MAGA," she wrote on her social media pages under "Trump 2024."
A representative for the convention, which kicks off next Monday, July 15 in Wisconsin, has not publicly reacted to the news. However, when asked for comment, Trump's team sent Newsweek a link to Rose's tweet which confirmed her appearance.
The news has drawn backlash from conservative figures and Republican voters alike, who took issue with Rose's LGBTQ+ view. Dr. Maria Peiro, a prominent conservative voice on social media, shared her dismay on X, stating, "Now, under the total Trump takeover of the RNC, the GOP will be represented at the convention by Amber Rose who believes in 'empowering the LGBTQ+ community', 'ending sexual, social injustice, derogatory labeling, and gender inequality.' " Peiro then challenged Trump supporters, asking, "Conservatives who voted for Trump in the primary, how do you like being represented by a woke, pro-trans, socialist at the GOP convention?"
A user under the handle @Conservative1AZ expressed disbelief at the choice, referring to Rose as an "OnlyFans chick" and imploring the GOP to "do better." Jenna Ellis, a former Trump legal advisor, took a swipe at the decision, sarcastically referencing comments made by Senator Marco Rubio about the party's platform reflecting its nominee.
However, some also expressed enthusiasm about Rose's appearance, believing that it is a strategic move to broaden the party's appeal. Xavier DuRousseau penned, "I cannot wait to hear my friend stand on business and speak TRUTH at the RNC convention!!! Amber Rose is one of MANY Black Americans who finally woke up from the Left's lies after doing her own research about President Trump!" DuRousseau added, "The @GOP is about to put on a HISTORIC event."
Rose, who founded the SlutWalk, a feminist movement against slut-shaming and sexual assault, surprised many when she publicly endorsed Trump in May. She posted a picture of her with the former U.S. president and former First Lady Melania Trump, captioning it with, "Trump 2024" and three American flag emojis.
She has since defended her political stance against criticism. "Lmaooo yall think Biden cares about black ppl???" she said of the current POTUS. "Sad. Do ur research. I did," she added.
Rose said that she still supports women's rights despite her support of Trump. "I'll ALWAYS put women first. Y'all want biological men in women's sports. Trump supports the most reasonable compromise on abortion," she explained. "Stop being brainwashed cuz WE'RE ppl of color. Make your own decisions."
In June, the 40-year-old declared herself "engaged" to MAGA, showing off a diamond ring with "MAGA" inscribed on it. She also insisted that she's no longer "brainwashed by the left" and denied getting "paid for s**t."
