Marvel Studios rolls out its exciting new plans for The Fantastic Four, set in a unique vision of the 1960s. Get ready for a complete departure from the familiar!

AceShowbiz - Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has officially unveiled more details about the highly anticipated "The Fantastic Four" film, doubling down on the decision to root the story in the 1960s. But this isn't just any trip down memory lane - it's a journey to a version of the 1960s unlike any we've seen before.

This period piece will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing).

Feige, in his appearance on "The Official Marvel Podcast", emphasized the film's unique setting. "It is a period film, and there was another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a 4 symbol. There was a cityscape in that image," Feige explained.

"There were a lot of smart people who noticed that that cityscape didn't look exactly like the New York that we know or the New York that existed in the 60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I'll say...," he added. This exciting revelation indicates an innovative approach, thrusting Marvel's First Family into an alternate yet nostalgic world.

Set to start filming the Monday following San Diego Comic-Con on July 29, 2024, the project is helmed by director Matt Shakman, best known for his work on "WandaVision". Shakman expressed his enthusiasm for the fresh take on these iconic characters, suggesting that fans are in for something unprecedented both in storytelling and cinematic execution.

"I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material," Shakman teased.

The promotional art, shared by Marvel on social media, hints at a futuristic cityscape, sparking theories that the film might be set in an alternate universe. Feige acknowledged these fan speculations, further propelling the excitement.

"Those characters are mainstays, are legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe that we've never gotten to play with or explore in any significant way apart from '[Doctor Strange in the] Multiverse of Madness' and a few fun teases before, in the way we're doing that film. So, I'm extremely excited," Feige added.

As we look forward to its release on July 25, 2025, the film promises to blend the essence of the '60s with a fresh, speculative twist. With a stellar cast that includes Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Julia Garner, "The Fantastic Four" is poised to be a remarkable addition to the MCU's ever-expanding universe.
