The 'Horizon: An American Saga' actor is moved to tears after his son, Hayes Costner, shared glowing words about their experience working together on the new film.

AceShowbiz - At the premiere of his latest film, "Horizon: An American Saga", Kevin Costner, 69, beamed with pride as he listened to his 15-year-old son Hayes praise their collaboration.

"It was so fun. Just working with my dad, I loved it," Hayes told Access Hollywood. "He just taught me everything, and he was there directing by my side, and it was just amazing to watch him direct because I've never seen it before. I've only seen him act before."

Costner's eyes welled up as he heard his son's heartfelt words. When asked how it felt to receive such accolades, he simply said, "It feels good." Holding back tears, Costner put on sunglasses and embraced Hayes as the interview continued.

Earlier this month, Hayes had opened up to PEOPLE about working with his father, describing him as "focused and meticulous" on set but "always gentle" when offering feedback. "It felt like the greatest way that we could bond over something we both love and to create lasting memories together," Hayes said.

Costner, who named his character in the film Hayes Ellison after his son, admitted that he had cast Hayes primarily to spend quality time with him. "I did. I figured out how to have him close," Costner told ET. "He's never going to look this young, he's never going to look this sweet and handsome. He's just going to grow into a young man."

Costner has seven children with multiple former partners, including his three children with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner, whom he pays $63,000 per month in child support.

The first chapter of "Horizon: An American Saga" hits U.S. theaters Friday, June 28 with the second chapter following on August 16. The epic Western, set before and after the Civil War, also stars Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington and Jamie Campbell Bower.
