In a new episode of the 'Live with Kelly and Mark', the co-host reveals her unusual experience of performance anxiety in public restrooms, known as the 'yips.'

AceShowbiz - Kelly Ripa, co-host of "Live with Kelly and Mark, recently shared her peculiar experience of performance anxiety in public restrooms. Known as the "yips," this phenomenon arises when a person freezes in a situation that usually requires minimal effort, such as using a restroom.

Ripa explained that her anxiety triggers when she recognizes fans in public restrooms. "When [I] go into the restroom, and I will hear, 'That's Kelly Ripa!' Now, I can't go," she said. Despite her desperate need to use the facility, her performance anxiety takes over.

Her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, questioned if she continued listening to the conversations in the restroom. Ripa replied that the panic-stricken situation prevented her from going and caused delays for herself and others.

"I feel like saying, 'Guys, can you run the water or something?' " she added. Her tremendous performance anxiety stems from the pressure to perform even in the most basic of scenarios.

Research has linked the yips to performance anxiety or neurological conditions causing involuntary muscle spasms. Consuelos acknowledged that he also experiences the yips, particularly during the Stump Mark segment on "Live".

After sharing her experience, Ripa received validation from audience members who had also experienced the same phenomenon. "Okay, I don't feel so alone," she said.
