The 45-year-old RnB icon opens up about how he prepares physically and mentally for his jam-packed life in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, which was published on Monday, June 17.

AceShowbiz - Usher has got candid about his diet routine, but some experts weren't too happy with it. After the "Yeah!" hitmaker revealed that he always fasts on Wednesdays, experts dubbed the habits "unnecessary" and potentially "harmful."

Dr. Carolyn Williams, dietitian and author of Meals that Heal, told DailyMail.com that while the average person doing a 24-hour fast is "not so alarming," Usher's intense workout routine is concerning. "Where I have concerns is if he was doing extensive training for the Super Bowl," she said. "If you're going to fast for 24 hours, you need to go easy on the physical activity."

"Fasting all day with just water and still trying to keep up this workout schedule and everything, that's not what is generally recommended," she added. "When you're working out like he does, you need more to fuel your body."

Usher opened up about his diet habis in an interview with WSJ. Magazine. "I fast, not for religious purposes, but it's something my grandmother practiced," he shared. "I fast on Wednesdays. I typically try to start around 11 p.m. the previous day, then go the entire day on Wednesday just drinking water."

Usher said he kicks off some mornings with a coffee martini and other days with celery juice. "I've been doing this concoction of lemon, ginger, water and cayenne pepper," he explained. "I drink it hot."

"I don't like to eat breakfast before I've worked out or done something physical: taking a walk, stretching or doing yoga, sitting in the sun and raising my body's natural heat levels," he further elaborated. "Then I eat."

As for his workout, Usher detailed, "Normally, my workout regimen starts with either walking or with certain knee activations and reverse walking that I do to really engage my quads, my knees and glutes." He continued, "Other than that, swimming is a really good thing to get me going and bike riding. Weight lifting, don't do a lot of that."
