AceShowbiz - Simone Ashley is not ready to say goodbye to "Bridgerton" just yet. The actress portraying Kate Sharma on the hit Netflix series said she "really hopes" that she and Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, will reprise their roles in the show's fourth season.
The 29-year-old talked about her and Jonathan's potential returns during a press meeting at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival on Saturday, June 15. When asked about the matter, she told reporters, "I really hope so."
"Both Johnny and I, we adore our characters, Kate and Anthony, so much and their relationship and what they mean for the show," she said. "I think we'll do all we can with our schedules to make it work so that we can, hopefully."
Simone first appeared as Kate in the second season of "Bridgerton". She previously revealed how she loved the way her alter ego "breaks the rules." Speaking on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", she said, "I like the fact that she's [Kate] not a people pleaser, and she wasn't afraid to be opinionated and controversial; break the rules a little bit."
Simone described the process of being cast in the series as "all a whirlwind." The "Sex Education" star said, "It was all a whirlwind; it happened in two weeks. I sent in some self-tapes the first week and by the second I was meeting with Jonny [Jonathan Bailey] for a chemistry test. Everyone knew about the show and was talking about it and was wondering what would happen in season two, but I had to keep it quiet for a few days."
While she and Jonathan's characters were featured in the show's third season, it mostly focuses on the unfolding romance between Nicola Coughlan's Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton's Colin Bridgerton. In Nicola's words, "This moment has been literal years in the making. I'm so excited we can finally start to share Season 3 with you all."
