The actor that inspired Taylor's 'London Boy' has opened up for the first time about his 'long, loving' relationship with Taylor Swift, their split, and the intense public scrutiny afterwards.

AceShowbiz - Joe Alwyn is breaking his silence on his breakup with Taylor Swift. The 33-year-old actor shared insights into his six-year relationship with the pop star and the challenges that followed their split in April 2023 in an interview with The Sunday Times Style.
Alwyn described his time with Swift, 34, as "long, loving" and "fully committed," reflecting on the difficulties that come with ending such a significant relationship. He acknowledged that navigating the end of their relationship was "a hard thing to navigate."
"I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years," Alwyn said about the breakup that has been believed to inspire Swift's latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department."
The breakup, publicly confirmed around the same time Swift kicked off her Eras Tour, was said to be due to "differences in their personalities" that became "harder to ignore." Alwyn discussed how the intensely private nature of their relationship clashed with the public's interest, stating, "What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it's suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in."
He expressed how real experiences quickly become distorted when exposed to tabloids, social media, and the press. "And the truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that."
Alwyn emphasized their decision to keep the details of their relationship private was a mutual one. "We together - both of us, mutually - decided to keep the more private details of our relationship private," he said. "It was never something to commodify and I see no reason to change that now."
He commented on his current state, stating that he feels "really good" both professionally and personally but refrained from discussing whether he is dating again or in contact with Swift. "I'm sure you can appreciate, given the level of noise and scrutiny about my past relationship, why I wouldn't want to just open the door to things like that right now," Alwyn explained, referring to the backlash he's facing because of her new album.
Since the split, Taylor Swift has moved on and is currently dating Kansas City Chiefs football player Travis Kelce. Meanwhile, Alwyn remains focused on his career and is enjoying his personal life.
