The 'Maleficent' star reflects on her close relationship with her daughter and how her involvement in the Broadway musical 'The Outsiders' strengthened their bond.

AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie candidly shared her experience as a producer and her daughter Vivienne's involvement as a producer's assistant for the Broadway musical adaptation of "The Outsiders". Jolie explained that Vivienne's passion for the play, after attending multiple performances at La Jolla Playhouse, inspired her to witness the show firsthand.

Deeply moved by the show's portrayal of adolescence, Jolie observed the impact it had on Vivienne. "As a mother, as a person, I was watching it, but I was really watching the effect it was having on my young daughter and what she was telling me about herself," Jolie said in an interview with Deadline.

Through their collaboration on the production, Jolie realized the profound connection between her daughter and the show's themes. She described Vivienne as a contemplative and thoughtful individual who sought to understand the complexities of life.

"I think it's just that it's very deep, and it's honest, and it doesn't shy away from real feelings and real discussion and real pain," Jolie said, referring to the reasons why "The Outsiders" resonated with Vivienne.

Jolie's comments about her relationship with Vivienne come amidst speculation about her ex-husband Brad Pitt's estrangement from their children. Last month, it was reported that Vivienne opted to drop Pitt's last name from her Playbill listing, echoing similar moves by her sisters Shiloh and Zahara.

Despite the challenges in her personal life, Jolie remains committed to fostering her bond with her children. She described Vivienne as reminding her of her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who "isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives."

"She's very thoughtful and serious about theater and working hard to best understand how to contribute," Jolie said.
