After being fact-checked by the internet, the 'Anyone but You' actor acknowledges the shocking horror dating story he told in a previous interview was actually 'false alarm.'

AceShowbiz - Recently, actor Glen Powell made waves when he appeared on the "Therapuss" podcast, sharing an astonishing story that left many both horrified and skeptical. According to Powell, a friend of his younger sister nearly fell victim to a charming yet cannibalistic date.

Amid the uproar, Glen Powell, known for his roles in movies like "Anyone but You," took to Twitter to address the situation. He acknowledged, "Props to my little sister's friend who told her this dating story…I've been telling this for years. I'm questioning my whole life now… False alarm." He jokingly reassured fans, "Back rubs are back."

Powell previously recounted his story, "You want to hear a crazy story? My little sister was friends with a girl who went on a date with a guy. They're hanging out, and he's super charming."

The story took a dark turn when the man offered a massage back at his apartment. "As she got back to his apartment, she started getting weird vibes. Something feels off." Despite her apprehension, the woman accepted the massage. Powell continued, "He starts massaging her shoulders. Everything just feels odd. She's like, 'I gotta get out of he.' It's a little weird, he's like, 'Please don't leave.' She leaves."

The next day, the woman noticed her skin itching excessively. Upon visiting a doctor, she learned that the lotion used during the massage was a black-market substance designed to break down skin for human consumption.

Powell shocked listeners further by revealing, "This man was rubbing lotion on her body to eat her. The doctor is like you have to give me this person's address and you should call the police. They go to this guy's house, and he had several girls' bodies in the house."

As gripping as the narrative was, it quickly went viral and invited skepticism from social media users. Many questioned its plausibility, pointing out similarities to urban legends and movies. In fact, Snopes, a trusted fact-checking site, debunked the story, tracing its origins to an email chain that began circulating in 2001.

The tale has apparently evolved over the years, often involving a nearly-sexual encounter with a cannibal. Indeed, others drew comparisons to the 2022 horror-comedy "Fresh," which features a similar cannibal plotline and stars Powell's "Twister" co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Whether Powell, who previously admitted to faking romance rumor with Sydney Sweeney to boost their movie, knowingly shared an urban legend or was himself duped into believing the story, his account has undeniably captivated - and terrified - audiences. This incident not only highlights the persuasive power of storytelling but also the blurred lines between fiction and reality in the digital age.
