The 40th annual Television Critics Association Awards has announced its nominees, with 'Baby Reindeer', 'Ripley', and 'Shogun' leading the pack including vying for the top prize.

AceShowbiz - The nominations for the 40th annual Television Critics Association Awards have been unveiled, and Netflix and FX are leading the pack with a staggering 16 nominations each. Dominating the top slots with compelling narratives and standout performances, "Baby Reindeer," "Ripley," and "Shogun" have each secured five nominations, including Program of the Year.
The nominations, decided by over 230 television journalists from the U.S. and Canada, highlight the best in television across a variety of genres. Winners will be announced in an eagerly anticipated in-person ceremony on July 12 at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena, marking a return to tradition after several years of virtual events.
In a significant showing, "Baby Reindeer," "Ripley," and "Shogun" will compete in the categories for Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, and Outstanding New Program. Additionally, each has been recognized in the Individual Achievement in Drama category, with nods for Richard Gadd ("Baby Reindeer"), Andrew Scott ("Ripley"), and Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada (both from "Shogun").
FX's "The Bear" has also made an impressive showing with four nominations, including defending its title in Outstanding Achievement in Comedy. Notably, actors Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri have received nods for their performances. The competition in comedy remains fierce with previous winners "Abbott Elementary" and "Hacks" also in contention.
Netflix's dominance is further evidenced by nominations for "Girls5eva," which moved from Peacock to Netflix to capture a broader audience. This musical comedy joins the winner's circle in the Outstanding Achievement in Comedy category and secures an individual nod for Renee Elise Goldsberry.
Other notable nominations include HBO Max receiving 13 total acknowledgments across various categories, bolstering its reputation as a heavyweight in the industry. Disney+ follows with six nominations, further highlighting the diversity in content platforms vying for critical acclaim.
In individual achievements, Jodie Foster for "True Detective: Night Country," Juno Temple for "Fargo," and Jean Smart for "Hacks" are among the standout nominees. These accolades underscore the exceptional talent and storytelling prowess that characterized this year's television offerings.
