The album, which delves into themes of romance and heartache, contains tracks that fans speculate are about Healy, much to his amusement and surprise.
According to a friend of Healy, the musician finds the album "hilarious" due to the light it sheds on their whirlwind fling, which he describes as never serious. "He loves the attention it's brought to him, [but] he also thinks it's hilarious because at no time [were they] ever serious," the friend shared with Us Weekly.
However, Healy was "completely blindsided" by certain lyrics suggesting they had discussed serious topics such as marriage and children. "For her to be saying things about baby carriages … and living together - he says it had never even come up," the insider added.
The relationship between Healy and Swift, which reportedly surfaced in early May 2023, quickly fizzled out by June of the same year. Both have since moved on; Healy is currently dating influencer Gabbriette Bechtel while Swift made headlines for her budding romance with NFL star Travis Kelce.
Despite finding parts of the album unexpectedly revealing, Healy is "taking it in stride." When approached by paparazzi shortly after the album's release, Healy admitted he hadn't fully listened to it but was sure it would be good. "I haven't really listened to that much of it but I'm sure it's good," he remarked with a smile.
The public's response to the fleeting romance between Swift and Healy was sharply divided. Many loyal Swifties were critical of Healy due to his controversial remarks about other musicians before she moved on with Kelce.
Healy's aunt, Debbie Dedes, offered a more grounded perspective, indicating that her nephew was prepared for any lyrical portrayal. "Nothing surprises him anymore," she said in an interview with the Daily Mail. "He will not be surprised by the song. [He] and her know what went on."
