AceShowbiz - Carly Pearce has released her highly anticipated fourth studio album, "Hummingbird", and it is undoubtedly her proudest work yet. Drawing from a turbulent period in her life, Pearce has crafted an album rich in emotional depth, which she describes as her "healing journey." "This is definitely the proudest I've been of an album, hands down," Pearce confides.
Pearce's previous album, "29", captured her anguish following her divorce from Michael Ray and was crucial for her growth as an artist. The success of "29" set a high bar, creating both apprehension and anticipation for "Hummingbird". "I underestimated the human experience I was having after loss of that sort," Pearce reveals to People, highlighting how deeply the album's themes continued to affect her even after its release.
Following a significant breakup with Nashville businessman Riley King in 2023, Pearce resisted writing a superficially "happy" album. Instead, she embraced the complex spectrum of emotions she was experiencing. Known affectionately as the "Queen of Feels" by her friend Kailey Dickerson, Pearce dives deep into love, heartbreak, and self-discovery across the album's 14 tracks.
"Hummingbird" features co-written songs that showcase Pearce's lyrical prowess and melodic intuition. The title track, written toward the end of the album's production, encapsulates Pearce's current hopeful yet grounded state. "Hummingbirds are a sign that the healing process can begin, and that good luck is on the way," she explains.
Despite the often somber themes, Pearce injects humor and relatability into her music. The album opens with "country music made me do it," where she explores where her life and musical persona begin and end. "I feel like I'm a walking country song," Pearce laughs, reflecting on her life's uncanny resemblance to her songs' narratives.
