The City Girls, the rap sensation comprising Yung Miami and JT, have announced they are taking steps toward exploring their individual paths following the lackluster response to their most recent studio album.

AceShowbiz - Yung Miami and JT, who wowed fans with their bold and energetic performances as a duo, have decided to part ways professionally to focus on their solo careers. The announcement came after their latest album "RAW," released in October, failed to resonate with fans as expected.

Miami explained that the disconnect between her and JT during the album's rollout contributed to their decision. "I think when the City Girls album just dropped, and it didn't do too well and we was just trying to do our press run, the whole rollout of the album was just so bad because we was just in two different spaces," she revealed in an interview with Complex.

This divergence stemmed from them pursuing individual interests - JT on the West Coast and Miami in the eponymous city of Miami. "When we get together as a group, it just wasn't connecting," she added. "It just wasn't working no more."

The tension wasn't new; it had been brewing for a while and even made headlines in April when the two had a public dispute on X (formerly Twitter). During the heated exchange, Miami accused JT of "sneak dissing" in her solo tracks "No Bars" and "Sideways." JT responded, defending herself and expressing her support for Miami despite the apparent misunderstandings. They later reconciled, tweeting affectionate messages to each other.

Although their issues seemed to have been resolved, the duo ultimately acknowledged that their dynamic as City Girls wasn't clicking as it used to. "It just wasn't working no more. So I think we both was at a point where we was just like, we should probably just do our own s**t," Miami confessed.

City Girls made a striking entry into the music scene with their 2018 mixtape "Period," followed by the debut album "Girl Code" in the same year, and 2020's "City on Lock." They had hoped their last project "RAW" would shift the public's often critical perception. "I hope that this album puts fun back into music from our direction. I hope it makes them fall back in love with us," JT told Variety.

As the duo embarks on their separate journeys, fans are left to wonder what each will achieve as a solo act. Although the future of City Girls as a unit is uncertain, their impactful contributions to the rap scene won't be forgotten any time soon.
