AceShowbiz - Hugh Jackman leads the star-studded cast of The Sheep Detectives, which is now available on Blu-ray and DVD from Amazon MGM Studios. The PG-rated family adventure is directed by Kyle Balda and written by Craig Mazin.

In the movie, Jackman plays George Hardy, a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can't possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives themselves. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, and Rhys Darby.

The pairing behind the camera is an unlikely one. Mazin is the creator of HBO's The Last of Us and Chernobyl, and his feature credits run from Identity Thief to The Hangover Part II and The Hangover Part III — a filmography with little in common with a talking-sheep mystery. Balda arrives from animation, having directed Minions and Minions: The Rise of Gru and co-directed Despicable Me 3 with Pierre Coffin.

The Sheep Detectives was produced by Working Title Films founders Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner alongside Tim Wellspring, with Lord Miller and Three Strange Angels also producing. The film runs 109 minutes.

The Blu-ray and DVD release follows the film's theatrical run earlier this year, with the discs available now at major retailers.
