Renner, known for his role as "Hawkeye" in Marvel's blockbuster films, had to contend with his physical limitations when he got back to work. Reflecting on his condition, he said, "To try to create some truth and then get the audience to believe it, while I'm just trying to learn to walk again, to put one foot in front of the other and not get up in agony. I'm doing all these things to find my footing on the planet again."
His sentiments highlight the incredible challenge of balancing his return to acting with his recovery process.
Producers took special measures to accommodate Renner on set. His demanding schedule was adjusted to allow time for rest, stretching, and exercise between takes. Despite these obstacles, Renner's outlook on life has become powerfully positive. "I'm alive. I'm walking through life with a smile on my face. And there's nothing that's ever going to change that. Nothing. It's impossible for me to have a bad day," he emphasized.
Humor and the support from his family and medical team were instrumental in his recovery. He even joked about his improved vision, "The eyeball that came out of my head? I have better vision in that eye than the other eye. I think I'm getting bionic."
