Word on the street is the Hollywood actor gladly accepted the olive of branch from David Beckham and his wife Victoria, a decade after their friendship fell apart.

AceShowbiz - There's apparently an even more interesting story behind Tom Cruise's appearance at Victoria Beckham's (formerly Victoria Adams) recent birthday party. If a new report is to be trusted, the actor didn't think that he would reconcile with David Beckham and his wife before the star-studded birthday bash in London.

The "Top Gun: Maverick" star befriended the Beckhams as soon as they moved to Los Angeles in 2007 after David signed with the Galaxy soccer team. However, their friendship fell apart after Tom pressured the couple to join his religion, making the married spouses run screaming from the Scientology poster boy.

"He came on way too strong and wouldn't take no for an answer," a source tells the National Enquirer (via RadarOnline.com). "They essentially ghosted him - and Tom was very bitter!" The cold freeze reportedly left Tom feeling resentful.

A decade after he famously fell out with the Beckhams, he allegedly didn't think the reunion would ever happen. "He'd pretty much given up hope they'd ever be friends ever again," the so-called insider spills.

At one point, Tom allegedly had "no intention" of reuniting with the couple ever again. "Tom did everything for them when they first moved to L.A. He practically gave them the keys to the city," a source says of the actor's disappointment in the Beckhams. "He threw them a party to meet everyone important - and the moment they were established they chucked him!"

Prior to Victoria's 50th birthday party, Tom was still fuming over how the Beckhams treated him as a source says, "He's still angry and has no intention of being friends again. David and Victoria tested the waters a while ago, but Tom ignored them - so it makes sense they haven't invited him to anything." The source adds the actor thought the couple "should have tried harder."

However, the "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" star changed his mind after receiving an invitation to the soiree. He was reportedly "thrilled" to get an invite to pop star turned fashion designer Victoria's star-studded 50th birthday bash on April 20 in London.

After repairing his broken friendship with the Beckhams, it only makes sense that he's going all out to ensure he's never cast aside again. "Tom grabbed the olive branch with both hands," the spy dishes. "Now he plans on building things back up and sees it as a passport into Posh and Becks' U.K. cool club!"

At Victoria's 50th birthday party which took place on April 20, Tom stole the show with his youthful energy. He did an athletic breakdance routine, including impressive splits, impressing A-list attendees such as Eva Longoria, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Victoria's former Spice Girls bandmates Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie C and Geri Horner a.k.a. Geri Halliwell.

Victoria gushed about the reunion, calling it the "best gift" she could have asked for. Contrary to the new report, a source previously told Page Six about Tom and David's friendship, "There was never any falling out between them, not at all. They have always remained close and in contact."
