Coachella Faces $28,000 Fine Due to Lana Del Rey's Late Set

The 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is slapped with a huge penalty for its organizers after the 'Summertime Sadness' singer's performance exceeded the curfew.

AceShowbiz - The Coachella Music Festival is facing a $28,000 fine from the city of Indio, California, after Lana Del Rey's set on Friday, April 19 ran 13 minutes late. This is not the first time Coachella organizers have been fined for curfew violations, as last year's first weekend alone resulted in $117,000 in penalties.

Curfew is set at 1 A.M. on Friday and Saturday, as well as midnight on Sunday. Coachella missed the cutoff time on all three nights, going over by 25 minutes on Friday, 22 minutes on Saturday and 25 minutes on Sunday.

Despite the curfew violations, festivalgoers were treated to a special performance of Del Rey, who surprised attendees by bringing out Camila Cabello onstage. Cabello performed her new single, "I Luv It", with Del Rey joining her for some of the verses.

Following her cameo, Cabello described Del Rey as "a once in a lifetime artist" who inspires many artists musically and lyrically. She also praised Del Rey's kindness and generosity.

In addition to Del Rey and Cabello, Jack Antonoff and Jon Batiste made surprise appearances during Del Rey's set. For the festival's first weekend, Billie Eilish made an unexpected visit, performing duets of "Ocean Eyes" and "Video Games" with Del Rey.

The city of Indio could be handing out more fines this weekend, as the Stagecoach Music Festival is set to take place from April 26 to April 28. Headliners for California's largest country music festival include Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and Morgan Wallen.
