The legendary KISS bassist expresses his approval for the 'Dance Moms' alum's recent edgy transformation, which has drawn comparison to the band's iconic makeup.

AceShowbiz - Gene Simmons, legendary KISS bassist, has expressed his approval for JoJo Siwa's recent edgy transformation. Siwa debuted her new look at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, sporting a black-and-silver outfit adorned with heavy eye makeup reminiscent of KISS. Simmons, 74, offered his stamp of approval in an interview with TMZ.
"JoJo is cool," said Simmons. "Anybody who doesn't get it is just jealous, period. Never be ordinary. Always be extraordinary. JoJo is extraordinary, and she looks cool."
Siwa's new style coincides with her upcoming music release, "Karma". The 20-year-old singer explained that she has always been true to herself, making the transition to adulthood while staying authentic.
Despite criticism for her new look, Siwa remains resolute. "People are afraid of things they don't know," she said at the iHeartRadio Awards. "But I think that creating art is such a special thing..."
Simmons is not the only industry icon who has supported Siwa's transformation. Lil Nas X and Meghan Trainor have also praised her boldness.
"I've always been myself, you know what I mean? And so to make this transition while being true to myself, while being artistic, has been interesting to figure out," said Siwa. "But I think we've nailed it...It's what the world needs."
Siwa has described her current style as the "new JoJo," not a rebrand. She has also shared that it is a glimpse of what viewers can expect in her upcoming music video for "Karma".
