AceShowbiz - At Julien's Auctions' "ICONS: Playboy, Hugh Hefner and Marilyn Monroe" event held in Los Angeles, a pink Pucci dress once worn by the late Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe sold for a record-breaking $325,000. The silk jersey dress set a new world record for the most expensive Pucci dress sold at auction.
Other notable items sold included, A script for Monroe's last incomplete movie, "Something's Got to Give", for $57,150, Handwritten notes from Monroe, including one reading "Sentimental Schmaltz", for $25,400, a black and white passport photo of Monroe and baseball icon Joe DiMaggio, taken in 1954, for $16,250 and a custom-made tube of Elizabeth Arden lipstick in an orange shade owned by Monroe, for $65,000./p>
In addition, a lavender satin leotard worn by Monroe in a pictorial for LIFE magazine, honoring late actress Lillian Russell, for $29,250, Monroe's old checkbook, including seventeen blank checks with her name, for $10,400, a brass plaque grave marker that was once displayed at Monroe's crypt for $88,900 and an eerie receipt from Pilgrim's Furniture, dated the day of Monroe's death, for $12,500 were sold./p>
Hugh Hefner memorabilia also sold for high prices, including his burgundy smoking jacket, slippers, pajamas, and tobacco pipe set, which went for $13,000.
The auction featured a total of 400 items once owned by Monroe and Hefner, netting a total of $4 million.
