AceShowbiz - Former "Malcolm in the Middle" star Frankie Muniz, currently a contestant on "I'm a Celebrity Australia", has shed light on his absence for two episodes of the hit sitcom.
During a conversation with his fellow campers, Muniz disclosed that he "walked off the set" due to tensions and uncomfortable behavior from "certain people" on the set. He further elaborated, "Everyone was so afraid to stand up when certain people were controlling or rude or disrespectful."
Walking away from Hollywood after the show's end, Muniz reflected on the experience. Despite being nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes, he never felt fully connected to the Hollywood scene. "I hated LA," he admitted, adding, "I kind of stayed in my own little world, my own little bubble."
Muniz has since embraced a different path, becoming a professional race car driver and retiring from acting. He is now married with a 3-year-old son.
Reflecting on his time post-"Malcolm in the Middle," Muniz acknowledged the challenges that often face child stars. He attributed his avoidance of the "dreaded child star curse" to his ability to step away from the spotlight and explore other passions.
Now, looking back on his career, Muniz would welcome a reunion with his "Malcolm in the Middle" castmates. He expressed his excitement over Bryan Cranston's potential involvement in writing a script for a possible reboot.
"I would love to know what the family's up to," Muniz said. "I would be down 100 percent, but we'll see what happens."
