AceShowbiz - Oliver Hudson, son of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, has opened up about his childhood and the impact his famous mother had on his emotional well-being.
Hudson, 47, explained on his "Sibling Revelry" podcast that while Hawn was an "amazing mother," he often felt "unprotected" due to her demanding work schedule and personal life.
"She would be working. She had new boyfriends that I didn't really like," he said, adding that "this is my own perception as a child who didn't have a dad and needed her to be there."
Hudson completed the Hoffman Process course, a weeklong retreat that helps individuals identify patterns and negative behaviors. Through this experience, he gained a deeper understanding of his parents and realized that they were simply repeating the same patterns they had experienced with their own parents.
Specifically, Hudson noted the importance of forgiveness, particularly towards his father, Bill Hudson. Bill left the family when Oliver was young, and Oliver had harbored resentment towards him. However, through the Hoffman Process, he came to understand that his father was also a product of his own childhood trauma.
Oliver emphasized that his relationship with his birth father has improved in recent years, despite a difficult past. He shared positive memories of spending time with Bill and acknowledged that both his parents were doing their best at the time.
Hudson believes that the Hoffman Process helped him develop compassion and forgiveness towards his parents and gave him tools to break free from negative patterns in his own life. As he raises his own children, he recognizes that parenting is a complex journey and that everyone is simply trying their best.
