The 'Real Housewives of Orange County' star is 'shocked' by her ex-boyfriend's decision to sue her for allegedly not repaying the money that she used for facelift.

AceShowbiz - Shannon Beador has responded to John Janssen suing her for $75,000. The star of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" said that she was "disappointed" by her former boyfriend's decision to bring the matter to court.

On Friday, March 22, the 59-year-old reality TV star issued a statement to PEOPLE about her and John's legal problem. "I am shocked and disappointed that John has a filed a lawsuit," the statement read. "My attorney has been in constant communication with his counsel."

Shannon explained, "I agreed to pay John what he wanted because I knew that attorneys fees would surpass the amount sought, but more importantly to eliminate the negative emotional components that come with a lawsuit." She went on to write, "It is important that I continue to focus on the positive aspects of my life and move forward."

The TV personality further elaborated, "John declined the offer because he refused to sign a mutual non-disparagement agreement. I was hoping that if I met his baseless demand we could at least use this as an opportunity to bring complete closure to this chapter in my life."

In the meantime, John's lawyer, Edson K. McClellan, told the media outlet. "Ms. Beador's defense that Mr. Janssen paid her the $75,000 as a 'gift' is completely meritless, which their e-mails and text messages will show." Edson added, "Mr. Janssen is saddened that Ms. Beador's unwillingness to repay the loans made it necessary to file this lawsuit."

The statements came after John filed a lawsuit against Shannon. On Wednesday, March 20, he submitted legal documents in Orange County Superior Court. In the docs, which were obtained by the media outlet, he asked her to recover $75,000 after she allegedly failed to repay.

John claimed that Shannon "turned to him for financial support in early 2022" and borrowed "$40,000 via wire transfer on Jan. 23, 2022 for a facelift procedure." He also wrote that he lent her another $35,000 via personal check on May 20, 2023.

Prior to the legal problem, Shannon and John were dating for four years before calling it quits in 2022. After the split, they were spotted together several times following her DUI as well as hit-and-run arrest in September 2023. He then moved on with "The Real Housewives of Orange County" star, Alexis Bellino, whose ex-husband Jim Bellino filed a lawsuit against Shannon in 2018.
