While the Fifth Harmony alum hinted that she was influenced by a difficult relationship, she was tightlipped on whether the songs directly reference her off-and-on romance with the Canadian star.

AceShowbiz - Camila Cabello has given a glimpse at her upcoming fourth album. While opening up about her new music, the "Havana" hitmaker appeared to hint that it's inspired by her emotional breakup with Shawn Mendes.

"It's me sitting with this feeling of understanding," the former member of Fifth Harmony told Puss Puss in an interview published on Wednesday, February 21, "that I feel really confused as a 26-year-old."

"I really felt I was in love with this person," she confessed. "Now I feel kind of lonely and small and weird, but at the same time, I'm an adult and I feel so strong in other areas of my life, but not this one."

Camila, however, clarified that the theme of her album isn't just about love, but is actually a chance for her to explore everything she's been feeling. "There's just the wrestling of those feelings without it being kind of neat or in a box."

"You can't really say that it's a sad song, you can't really pin it down," she explained. "It's just kind of me wrestling with these feelings and me kind of being really present on a particular feeling and exploring it."

Camila and Shawn began dating back in 2019 before going their separate ways in 2021. They sparked reconciliation rumors after being spotted locking lips in April 2023. It was later reported that their reunion ended in June.

Camila was recently linked romantically to Playboi Carti. The romance rumors between the two emerged more than one week after she was spotted on a yacht with Drake. As for Shawn, he has been rumored to be dating Charlie Travers. The alleged couple was spotted hanging out with the reality TV star several times.
