AceShowbiz - Christian McCaffrey has given his reaction to Olivia Culpo splashing a huge amount of money to watch him play. The San Francisco 49ers player revealed that he "had to nix" the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model from buying his mother a Super Bowl suite.
On Monday, February 5, the 27-year-old athlete made the revelation during an interview at the Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night event, which took place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. He bursted into laughter when he received a question about his 31-year-old fiancee "getting [his] mama a suite for the Super Bowl."
Speaking to ExtraTV, Christian explained, "She tried to but I will not let anybody pay to watch me play." As a result, the running back said that he "had to nix that." He went on to repeat, "She tried to but I'm not letting anyone pay to watch me play."
The interview came a few days after Olivia surprised Christian's mother Lisa McCaffrey with a luxury birthday gift. On Friday, February 2, the beauty spilled via Instagram Story, "Fake news! Happy birthday Lisa I bought you a suite." She was replying to a headline featuring Lisa's statement suggesting that the model and her athlete son couldn't buy the suite due to its high price.
Previously, Lisa talked about where her family will be sitting when they watch Christian play at the upcoming Super Bowl. During a chat on the "Your Mom" podcast for its 61st episode, she answered two fans' questions that read, "How do you determine who is in your Super Bowl suite?" and "How expensive are those Super Bowl tickets that Christian has to buy?"
In response, Lisa explained, "That is probably the question of the hour, you have no idea. We looked into a suite and none of us can afford it. Not even Christian, moneybags over there, and nor moneybags Olivia. So we are not in a suite. I'll tell you that right now."
"We did negotiate a different area, I don't exactly understand what it is, but anyway we are in there," Lisa continued. "And probably part of the problem is I wanted eight tickets to get together because I felt strongly about everybody being together. So long story short, they're outrageously expensive, they're stupid expensive."
