AceShowbiz - Ice Spice is another artist who has been sued for copyright infringement. The femcee was accused of ripping off a rapper's song for her track titled "In Ha Mood".
Filing the lawsuit was an artist named D.Chamberz. In his complaint obtained by TMZ, he claimed he released a song called "In That Mood" in January 2022.
D.Chamberz believed that Ice Spice's producer heard his tune on the radio way before her song came out. He said he performed it several times in New York in venues near where Ice and her producer, Riot, reside.
D.Chamberz also noted that "In That Hood" got airplay on Hot 97 FM in NYC, and he thinks it's more likely than not that Riot was tuning in. D.Chamberz also declared that he has social media receipts backing his claim.
D.Chamberz insisted that Ice Spice copied "the beat, lyrics, hook, rhythmic structure, metrical placement, and narrative context" of "In That Hood" for her song, which is certified gold and its MV has been watched more than 45 million times. Thus, he wants at least half of the song's publishing and other revenue with damages.
"In Ha Mood" appears on Ice Spice's "Like...?" EP. Dropped in January 2023, the RIOTUSA-produced project also features five other tracks, including previously-released singles "Munch (Feelin' U)" and "Bikini Bottom".
On "In Ha Mood", Ice Spice brags about being a "pretty b***h" who "came from the gutter." She also calls herself, a "pretty b***h like Lauren with a big a** butt."
Ice Spice has been going viral since dropping her hit single "Munch (Feelin' U)". Arriving on August 10, 2022, the song landed at No. 34 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, beating up "Church Girl" by Beyonce Knowles, "Gotta Move On" by Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and "Die Hard" by Kendrick Lamar. The accomplishment led her to be named BET's Amplified Artist of December 2022.
