AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj has added a new single to her new album, "Pink Friday 2". Early Saturday, January 13 morning, the Harajuku Barbie unleashed a song titled "Press Play" ft. Future in which she boasts about her achievements.
Future kicks off the track by rapping, "Yeah, press play, lil' booty b***h," repeatedly in the intro. He then continues in the chorus, "Press play, got baguettes on the way/ Press play, new G wagon on the way/ Press play, got a fan on the K/ Press play, have them killers where you stay."
Nicki later spits in her verse, "It's the big booty b***h, a big booty b***h/ He don't want no nice ho, a bad moody b***h." The femcee goes on to name-drop Beyonce Knowles, "Set the tone like a vocal coach/ They said, 'Why can't you be Yonce?' / Daddy wasn't no business man, mama wasn't no business owner/ Mm, what an idiot/ You can't be me, I'm already it."
"I been saucy, they all wanna skinny dip/ I am your label's obsession, you's another guinea pig," the mom of one raps. "Top of every list, including your man bucket/ Been on the chart so long, I told Billboard to dust it/ These sheep ain't got the nerve, I heard I done struck it/ It ain't a hate train if you conduct it."
Nicki dropped "Pink Friday 2" on December 8, 2023. In its first three days of release, "Pink Friday 2" amassed a remarkable 90.8 million streams, solidifying her position as one of the most influential artists of our time. This staggering achievement highlights the immense popularity and anticipation surrounding the album, firmly keeping her at the forefront of the music scene.
"Pink Friday 2" follows "Queen", which was released back in 2018. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spun off several major hits, such as "Good Form", "Chun-Li" and "Barbie Dreams" featuring Ariana Grande. She later released one compilation, "Queen Radio: Volume 1", which landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 in 2002.
The new project also marks Nicki's first proper release under her own record label, Heavy On It. The "Super Freaky Girl" hitmaker announced her own record label last year on her "Queen Radio" show by declaring, "I have a record label now... When I get behind an artist, y'all know how I do s**t for people that's not even signed to me. Imagine what I'ma do for the ones that's signed."
