AceShowbiz - Things aren't looking good for Jenelle Evans' husband. David Eason, who has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse following her son Jace's disappearance, reportedly had his charges updated.

An official at the Columbus County Courthouse in North Carolina told TMZ that David is now facing a felony. According to the outlet, David has been slapped with one count of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of felony assault by strangulation.

The first charge stemmed from an investigation conducted by Child Protective Services (CPS) and North Carolina's Columbus County Police following Jace's disappearance on September 28. After running away, Jace allegedly told the authorities that his stepdad David had assaulted him and the police had a video showing David assaulting Jace. The teenager was later hospitalized with visible marks on his neck and arm after being located.

Both Jenelle and David have yet to react to the updated charges. However, when David was hit with the first charge, the "Teen Mom 2" alum was furious and called out police.

"You would think police wouldn't make a one-sided police investigation. They didn't conduct any interviews. Didn't ask any information from the parents," the TV personality argued on Instagram Story in October. "This seems like a very bias[ed] situation like every time before."

"I trusted that detective with all my heart. I forgot you can't trust cops … silly me," the reality star, who shares Jace with her ex Andrew Lewis, added. "I don't trust anyone around me. Going MIA for a while."

As for Jace, he is reportedly living with his grandmother, Barbara, while remaining under the custody of Child Protective Services. Barbara herself reportedly isn't in contact with Jenelle or David, according to TMZ.
