When speaking in a new interview, the 33-year-old Australian beauty declares that 'Barbie' is enough proof that standalone movies can still be successful at the box office.

AceShowbiz - Margot Robbie is not sure whether there will be a "Barbie" sequel. When speaking to the Associated Press, the actress explained why she "can't imagine" what potential "Barbie 2" would be like.

"I think we put everything into this one. We didn't build it to be a trilogy or something," the 33-year-old shared. "It was like [Greta Gerwig] put everything into this movie, so I can't imagine what would be next."

For Margot, "Barbie" is enough proof that standalone movies can still be successful at the box office. "I'd say the biggest takeaway for me is that original films can still hit huge at the box office," she declared.

"It doesn't have to be a sequel or a prequel or a remake," the Australian native further elaborated. "It can be totally original. It can still be big, get given the big budget to do that."

Margot's statements arrived after RadarOnline.com reported in September that the two-time Oscar had no plans to return to a potential "Barbie" sequel. "Everybody at the studio is talking about making a Ken movie, while the idea of building another movie around Margot as Barbie is pretty much off the table," a so-called insider told the outlet.

Marot has allegedly come to terms with that as the source added, "For Margot, it's all about the story." The informant continued, "The 'Barbie' movie ended with Margot's Barbie becoming a real woman... A follow-up to that journey isn't needed. There's plenty of room for Ryan to do a full-blown Ken movie, which Margot will be involved with behind the scenes."

Margot herself first talked about the possibility of "Barbie" sequels in June. "I think you fall into a bit of a trap if you try and set up a first movie whilst also planning for sequels," she said of making the first film. Despite that, she believed that "it could go a million different directions from this point," without saying if that would involve her character.
